I got a new channel on Examiner - Healthy Food!
What's new with you guys??????
I am sorry I haven't given many updates regarding Examiner. There was a reason for that.
Sadly, a few months back when I posted an update about my income I had a nasty comment left by a fan of another writer on Examiner. I did not post the comment; not because I was afraid of what she wrote, but just because I wanted to make sure I had my facts straight before I did.
There is a writer on Examiner that was featured in the news last year. She has a bit of a fan base. There has been a huge amount of speculation on the amount of content she produces and whether or not she contracts out. This is a clear violation of the TOS for Examiner. Whether this person that attacked me was just a fan or an outsourced writer is something I won't ever know, nor do I care to find out.
What bothered me most is that this person linked a name and a website. She apparently shares the name with a real estate agent. It linked me to their website. I emailed the real estate agent. She was nice enough about the mistaken identity but was upset this person was using her website. I ended up finding the poster on Facebook and that is how I found she was connected to one of the top writers.
I contacted Examiner to let them know. She threatened me. Examiner told me not to worry and that they would look into it.
Since then I have refrained from posting because I don't want my personal website to be used for a sounding board for angry people.
I went ahead and posted the comment so you can see how ridiculous it is.

As for an update, I am not sure I will be posting numbers anymore. But I will tell you that for being a full-time graduate student and working on writing a few hours here and there when I can and being able to make 1000s a month is a-ok in my book.
You have to choose if posting your numbers is something that motivates you or provides you with a postive feeling. Don't let the turkeys control your behavior.
ReplyDeleteI started doing it because I know there are a lot of people out there who blog about their earnings and get people to sign up under their affiliate link only to lure people in. It is hard to believe some people who say they are making $5k a month without proof. That proof helps others to see that it can really be done. I know years ago when I first tried rev. share I was so distraught by not earning what others earned and I wondered if it was because they were lying to get people to sign up, or if they were just not willing to share how they did it. I wanted to be someone who shared both. And, I still might. Right now its more of a time issue for me. Trying to keep up with all of these websites on top of writing for income and school.
